Angelique Kidjo Peace Concert Hall At The Peace Center - SC Concert reviews
Not what we expected
I was excited to take my wife to see one of the best performers ever, Angelique Kidjo, after seeing him several times in the 80's. The show started with an hour-plus movie with some concert footage and political BS. Lame! He was on her bucket list, and she was really excited about the evening. Unfortunately, this was the highlight of the evening. He appeared on stage around 8:30 and rocked out with "The Authority Song" to start, and had the place dancing and rocking. The next 11 songs were basically new, unfamiliar stuff, or acoustic versions of his hits that he apparently wanted to help push his new album sales. Although not bad stuff, it would've been a more appropriate set for a bar scene or something more intimate. Very disappointing! People were sitting, leaving, and bored throughout the show. His encore rocked, but it was too little, too late.
